Where is your steel from?

We use NatSteel product, sourced from Singapore, with a maximum 12m-long bar length.

Do you have a minimum order?

Yes, our minimum charge is $500 +GST including P & G (preliminary & general).

Do you offer delivery?

 We certainly do. Our trucks have STD HIAB lifting facility to unload material onto ground level.

Do you have a maximum order?

Our factory with its state-of-the-art machines has the capacity to cut and bend up to tonnes a month. Please contact us ask us about your specific order.

Do you work New Zealand-wide?

Depending on the size of the job, yes, we do but we mainly focus on greater Auckland, Waikato, the Bay of Plenty and Otago.

What reinforcing steel is used in New Zealand?

Micro Alloy Seismic Grade 300e & 500e.

What is the minimum lap length for reinforcement NZ?

Lap lengths are based on the type of structure and calculations. NZ standards have a lap length given for each diameter, as per building code NZ:. This will be specified by the project&#;s engineers.

What is the difference between 665 and 668 mesh?

665 mesh has a wire size of 5.3mm and 668 mesh has a wire size of 4mm. Both have wires at 150mm centres. Both are available in different sizes.

What is 665 mesh used for?

Non-seismic/ductile work such as driveway, vehicle crossing etc. This is generally down to an engineer specifying, as per the code NZ.

Why use bar chairs?

To get the defined concrete cover to the reinforcing steel or mesh, it&#;s common practice to use different sized bar chairs. It also prevents bars from possible corrosion.

How many bar chairs do I need?

Generally, it is recommended a bar chair every 1m distance, however it also depends on bar type and weight to maintain required cover. Usually it should carry the weight of a man standing on them. Please contact us to ask us about your specific project.

What is the NZ equivalent to this Australian specification?

Generally, as per code ASNZS :.

Australian CodeNew Zealand CodeEquivalentSLSLDSLDSLDSLD How many tie wires are required to tie the steel?

It is recommended 6-8kgs per tonne are required to tie reinforcing steel.

Do you sell galvanized bars?

Yes, we absolutely do sell galvanized products. It is made to order including bars and mesh. Contact us about your specific project enquiry.

What is the difference between black and gray rebar?

Galvanized rebar is only forty times more resistant to corrosion than black rebar, but it is more difficult to damage the coating of galvanized rebar. In that respect, it has more value than epoxy-coated rebar. However, it is about 40% more expensive than epoxy-coated rebar.

What is the spacing for rebar NZ?

The reinforcing steel should always have at least 50 mm cover and 75 mm when spaced off bare ground, unless a more thorough determination of cover is undertaken in accordance with NZS . There must be enough &#;chairs&#; or supports to ensure that the steel doesn&#;t sag into that cover space.

AS/NZS : specification for hard drawn mild steel wire for concrete reinforcement

The mechnical property required by standard AS/NZS :

Nominal diameter(mm)Minimum 0.2% proof stress(Mpa)Tensile strength(Mpa)MinimumMaximumUp to and including 3.Over 3.

The pitch (a) of longitudinal bars and transvers bars is not less than 50mm. The pitch is measured as below shown. The tolerance of the pitch is not more than 0.075 times the specified value.

What does SE62 mean?

In standard AS/NZS : , the designates letters to be used to identify reinforcing mesh products:

S=squre( shape of grid centers)

E= Seismic grade(Earthquake)

6=6mm wire diameter

2=200mm certers distance.
