Corner beads are a type of metal flashing that is applied to the outside corners of drywall to protect the corners and provide a clean, straight edge. If a corner bead isn’t secured properly, it can pull loose from the drywall and leave a crack running along the edge.
A special corner crimping tool and rubber mallet are often used to secure the metal corner to the drywall, but that alone may not be enough to hold the corner securely. For further reinforcement, nail the corner to the wall studs every 6”- 8” through the predrilled holes.
